Karakter yang kuat dan Kompetensi Sosial yang lengkap anak banyak berkontribusi pada kesuksesan anak, sehingga metode untuk membangun kedua hal tersebut makin beragam, salah satunya adalah metode Experiential Learning ( Belajar melalui pengalaman) yang dipercaya banyak membantu anak menemukan makna dari pengalaman ketika mereka melakukan aktifitas tertentu, dan hal ini sangat berpengaruh pada penguasaan maupun peningkatan kompetensi sosial anak.

Metode BERLIAN (Bermain ExpeRiential LearnIng ANak) sebagai salah satu bentuk belajar melalui pengalaman, merupakan metode bermain yang memanfaatkan kearifan lokal (permainan tradisional) sebagai sarana untuk meningkatkan perkembangan fisik-motorik, intelektual, sosial ekonomi, emosional dan kepribadian anak, sehingga akan membentuk nilai-nilai sosial dan psikologis yang tinggi. Kondisi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi penyeimbang situasi saat ini, yang serba instant dan kurang memperhatikan nilai-nilai edukatif.
